Sunday Night Brain Dump

After having some time off it was good to be back at Five Stones today. To be honest our staff and volunteers were exhausted after the close of the Christmas Eve Service. Tons of great things taking place today at Five Stones. Thought we had a great turn out to start our new series “Choices” based off Andy Stanley’s book the “Principle of the Path.” Here are some of my thoughts in no particular order:

• Hard getting up this morning looking at the temp hovering around 18 degrees. Thankful for our sign folks  who braved the elements to make sure that first time guests had a great experience.
• Loved the song choice today of “How He Loves” Actually took some time at the close of the service to explain one line in the song. “Heaven meets Earth like a Sloppy Wet Kiss.”
• Pumped that we already have around 15 people signed up to be baptized on Feb.7th.
• Made a big push today to get people spending time in the Word every day. You can buy one of our Life Journals or go to YouVersion and choose the Wayne Cordeiro’s Reading Plan and do it online.
• Felt like a majority of the people made some big decisions regarding the Disconnect that they have in their life. The disconnect from where they are to where they need to be.
• If you happen to have a lake house please don’t feel like you have to sell it, I was just making an illustration. (ha,ha)
• If you want to grow spiritually then you need to do more than just listen to a message on Sunday. Spending time in the Bible is hands down the highest impact for one’s spiritual practice. The Bible is still the most powerful catalyst for spiritual growth.
• It is not Five Stones job to feed you 24/7. It is our job to teach you how to be a self-feeder.
• Today we announced the Awakening Fast that we challenged the church to do from Jan.10th-30th. For more information about the Spiritual Fast click on this link.
  
• Someone asked me today why are you going to fast? My short answer was, its pretty obvious that we can gather a crowd at Five Stones. What I want is to see God work in our church in ways that can only be explained as a God thing. For that to happen we need to seek Him with fasting and prayer and it starts with the leadership of the church.
• Launched our first Youversion Live service today where people could follow along on their Smart Phone. This gave people the ability to receive the main points, scripture, answer live questions and even respond with prayer requests. We will post more information about it once we launch it for everyone.
• Hada good day disusing the Principle of the Path with my family: Your Direction not your intentions determines your destination.
• I think it was obvious to everyone in attendance today that God is about to do some huge things at Five Stones.
