Primal: My Cry for 2010
I was giving the opportunity by WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group to review Mark Batterson’s new book “Primal” before it hit the stores. Over the past ten years no other book has changed my life like “In A Pit with A Lion on A Snowy Day” by Mark Batterson. So to say that I jumped at the opportunity to review Mark’s new work would be a huge understatement.
At times my life can begin to feel like the movie Groundhog Day, living one day just like the previous one. Mark brought me back to the Primal verse of the Great Commandment and asked me where was my compassion, curiosity, wonder and power that should be evident in my life. Where had that gone? Had I forgotten?
For those of us who have been Christ Followers for years Mark challenges us to remember those times when God has met with us and challenges us to have more of those times. I appreciated the challenge in which Mark says,
” God doesn’t just want to speak to you through Scripture, He wants to speak through you. He wants to write His Story through your life. And Scripture is the script. Read it, Meditate on it, Then Live it Out.”
This will be the first book that I challenge my friends to read in 2010. If you found yourself on an incredible Lion Chase then Primal will help you live out your next great adventure with living out the Great Commandment.
